The interview involved several interviews. I met with leaders from both the IT and business teams. The questions were fair and focused on my background, previous companies, and project management knowledge. They also asked several situational questions about how I would handle different scenarios.

Got a call from a recruiter within a few days of applying, it was on a Saturday afternoon, which felt like a red flag. I then scheduled an interview with the hiring manager. They were nice but didn't try to get to know me or sell the company. The next day, I had an interview with a potential peer. They were friendly, but they were only in their second week on the job and didn't seem to like it or the onboarding process. The whole process felt rushed, like they were desperate to fill the role quickly. The recruiter called the next day about a final interview on Saturday morning. When I asked to schedule it for the following week, they said 'we couldn't delay this any further'. I decided not to proceed and asked to withdraw my application. I got the impression there's no work-life balance there, which isn't what I want right now.

They were looking for two people to help start a new consulting and process re-engineering team, reporting to a Project Leader. The first step was an HR phone screen to check if the role matched my experience and interests. Then, I spoke with the Project Leader. It started as a regular interview, but then it went deeper into my project management background, my ability to juggle multiple projects, how I'd communicate issues to upper management, and my approach to different scenarios, including my assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation methods. The interviewer was pretty casual talking about the job and the team's future, which made it feel more relaxed. I didn't get the job because my direct project management experience was limited, but it gave me a quick look into that field.
