Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Macmillan.
Marketing
I had a thorough and professional HR interview, with follow-ups throughout. After that, I interviewed with the hiring manager and then with a senior person in my department.
- What are your standard interview questions?
Digital Marketing Assistant
I applied online and heard back about a week and a half later. Since it was a part-time role, HR contacted me for an interview. The interviewer mostly asked me questions about my resume. She mentioned another candidate was also being interviewed. A fire drill happened during my interview, which was a bit distracting but I don't think it hurt my chances. After the interview, I was asked for references via email. I didn't hear back for about 2.5 weeks, and I had to reach out to find out I didn't get the job. Apparently, this is common for them. The whole process felt a bit disorganized and communication could have been better after the interview, though it wasn't a negative experience.
- What's your experience with Marketo Software?
Marketing Executive
I went through two rounds of interviews, one online and one in person, and also had a task to complete. The HR and hiring manager were really communicative throughout the whole process. The hiring manager did a great job making me feel comfortable about what the job would entail and reassuring me about the amount of work involved, which I felt said a lot about the company culture.
- When things get hectic, how do you handle your workload?
- What are your current manager's perceptions of you?
- What's your preferred management style?
