I was contacted by the HR rep fast. He mentioned he had a sleeping disorder and was often disoriented. We had a Zoom call with a group of people who I think were chatting online about me, but it was fine and went well. A couple weeks after, the HR guy got in touch and said they wanted me to do a writing assignment, which he went over a bit. It was basically a week's work, and I had 24hrs to finish it. I didn't have the time and thought it was too much, so I declined.

I had a really bad experience interviewing with Macfadden. The first time, I got called for a first round with two supervisors. Then they sent an email saying I was invited to a second round, but HR followed up later that day with 'Please disregard the previous message.' I was so confused about whether I was invited or not. Their responses to my questions were super brief, and then I just got a generic rejection email. It was obviously their mistake, but it was a terrible experience as a job seeker. Macfadden reopens applications for this job three or four times a year, so I tried again. I got through to the interview stage again, and one of the interviewers was the same person. She seemed surprised to see me. This time, there was no follow-up until I got another rejection. So, honestly, don't expect good communication from their HR.

I talked to 2 people virtually for a program assistant role, but they didn't have an opening and were building a talent pool. They sent me to another team with a job that I interviewed for. I was told what the job was after I started the interview, which was not ideal since I couldn't prepare. I found out later I didn't get it after following up.

It was a really basic process, pretty much dependent on the HR department and the type of internship. First, there was a phone interview. Then, I had an in-person interview where we just walked around the office and chatted about what the internship would be like and my qualifications. It was super easy.
