Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at M&T Bank.
Operations Associate
I initially worked with a staffing agency, and after three months, I was hired full-time. The interview questions were pretty standard, covering things like career aspirations, why I'd be a good fit for the role, my workplace strengths and weaknesses, and my short and long-term objectives. I got the offer just three days after the interview.
- Can you share your most significant accomplishment to date?
Operations Associate
The first call was a phone interview, it was pretty easy and the interviewer was nice. The in person interview felt kind of unprofessional though. The guy interviewing me didn't have any questions ready and just asked me basic stuff about my computer experience and how I train people. It felt like they already picked someone and were just going through the motions with me.
- Could you describe your training style?
- What's your experience with computers?
Operations Associate
The interview process spanned roughly three weeks, involving both a phone interview and an in-person meeting. They were quite prompt in their communication. A significant portion of the questioning focused on your prior banking experience, if any.
- What would your current employer say about your attendance?
- Name a work related dispute you had with a coworker and how you handled it.
