Brand Manager
They reached out to me fast because I had good experience in a French company. Round 1 was a quantitative test and a chat with HR. Round 2 was with the Brand Manager and Commercial Director, plus a take-home forecasting test that needed a ppt. Round 3 was with Brand managers and the General manager. They told me they really liked me for the job, but I had to chill for a month before they gave me the official offer.
- Reflecting on your past work, what would you change about your last role?
Brand Manager
I found the job posting, which had been up for a while, and applied right away. They seemed really keen to meet me and scheduled me for the earliest possible date, only hours after receiving my application. I met with all the top management, and we really hit it off. The meeting went on for over two hours, and we even had some friendly chat and jokes. It was clear we had a good connection and that I'd be a great fit for the team, bringing my extensive network of potential clients, professional credibility, and innovative ideas in guerilla marketing and synergy. We agreed they'd send an offer within a week. However, almost a month passed with no contact. It became very hard to reach them. I finally managed to catch the HR representative, who apologized, explaining that an internal candidate had applied at the last minute, making it an easier hire due to no training needed, despite me being the most qualified. I was disappointed they'd set such high expectations and then didn't even follow up. It felt like they'd already made up their minds based on our call and then chose the easier, cheaper option over the best candidate. The internal person seemed less motivated, only applying after better external candidates were considered. I think this is a short-sighted decision that won't benefit anyone long-term, just to save a bit on training.
- Can you tell me about your favorite brands?
- Who are some of the people you know?
- Describe how you've managed brands in past roles.
Brand Manager
I was referred by an employee and had a brief phone interview. After that, I interviewed with the HR manager. It was a really positive and laid-back conversation, though it got pretty technical in places. The manager seemed really impressed, saying they were looking for someone with my exact expertise. She told me to call back on a specific date to check on the status. When that date arrived, I called, but no one answered via email or phone. I just got a message from the assistant saying there were no openings and they weren't sure why I was calling. A contact in the industry had the same experience.
- The interview was very technical regarding market and area knowledge.
