IT Specialist
The interview process at Lutron was quite extensive and involved several individual interview days, but overall it was a positive experience. The process has three rounds, and all interviews are conducted virtually now, unlike before when later rounds were in-person. The entire process took about 8-9 hours spread over a few weeks, and I spoke with 9 interviewers. References are required before an offer is extended. The first round is a 30-minute to 1-hour call with the IT team, covering standard HR questions and a review of your resume. The second round dives into technical aspects. It's a 3-hour session split into two interviews, each with two interviewers. The first part involved resume questions and analyzing a network diagram where I had to fill in missing parts. The second part was an IT role-playing scenario where I had to troubleshoot an issue, assessing problem-solving and thought processes. The third round is slightly less technical, also lasting 3 hours but divided into five 30-minute interviews with different people, preceded by a 1-hour interview. The initial hour involved discussing how I would implement something for the company. The subsequent interviews were with various IT leads and staff, focusing on my resume and allowing me to ask them questions. Finally, there was a 30-minute call with a recruiter to go over offer details. Most interviewers made me feel comfortable, and I appreciated the process, even though I declined the offer. I felt the time invested was worthwhile. This was for a rotational program, offering exposure to different teams and roles, which seems great for those unsure about their career path, with supportive staff.

IT Specialist
It started with a phone interview with one of the IT Administrators, which was strictly questions about my education and employment history, plus some general questions like "Why do you want to work for Lutron?" It was a very easy interview. Then, I was contacted to schedule an interview at their headquarters, and they paid for travel. The onsite interview began with a tour of their product showcase, which was an awesome experience! It was followed by an all-day interview with about 6 different sets of usually two people. Although it was pretty exhausting, I thought it was a great and very enjoyable experience. Lunch was provided in the cafeteria, and someone conducted an informal interview during lunch. If that was the only part, I'd rate it the best interview ever. But, the week after, I had another call with the IT Director for a short behavioral interview. I thought I would get an offer or a rejection after that, but no. They then called to schedule another technical interview the following week over Skype. By this point, I had already received two job offers, so I decided it wasn't worth my time to continue. I'm pretty sure I would have gotten an offer, but the constant scheduling of various interviews was a turn-off.
- How would you receive and store all the data from various plants around the globe to Lutron's headquarters?
- Role-play a troubleshooting issue.
Information Technology Specialist
I went through two rounds. The first round was general, asking about my interests and experience. The second round was a three-hour interview split into two parts: technical questions and a role-play scenario to solve a customer problem. The people seemed great, but I was really caught off guard in the second interview when they asked about things I hadn't indicated expertise in. The recruiting team also seemed pretty disorganized; I had to ask for the Microsoft Teams link the night before the interview because it was never sent, along with other small issues like that. It seems like a great company with a good candidate screening process, but I'm not sure what's happening with HR.
