First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lutron Electronics.
Electrical Engineer
It was a long process with 3 phases, but I only got to the second. The first phase was technical and the second was behavioral. The third phase would have been on site. They didn't really explain why I didn't get called back for the third phase.
- Can you explain voltage divider circuits?
- Could you tell me about BJTs?
- What are the battery power ratings?
Electrical Engineer
The interview process was pretty standard. It was a one-on-one meeting. We discussed my interest in Lutron and why I like Electrical Engineering. They also threw in some brain teasers and circuitry questions to gauge my understanding and how I approach problems. They originally wanted me to discuss past projects, but we ran out of time. They initially said I'd hear back in 2-3 weeks, but it took longer. I got a rejection saying all positions were filled, which I doubt is true since a friend still had an interview for the same role and location after I was rejected. That felt a bit condescending.
- Why are you interested in Lutron?
- What motivated you to pursue Electrical Engineering?
- What kind of projects are you hoping to work on?
Electrical Engineer
I got an email and had to answer some questions. Then there was a technical interview with the Engineering lead where they asked about my background and some basic stuff. A week after that, I had a behavior interview with HR, which was just typical behavior questions. I feel like I did okay, but I didn't study for the RC circuit part. No offer came a week after the behavior interview.
- Can you tell me about RC circuit basics?
- What is the behavior of a diode?
- What is the behavior of a resistor?
