Customer Assistant
Lush has a 2-part interview process: a group interview followed by a shop floor trial and a one-to-one chat. For the group interview, about 13 people showed up. We had to bring something from home that describes us or means something to us and talk about it in a circle. Then, we had to present a Lush product like a YouTube beauty vlogger, using a cheat sheet about the product's benefits. We did this in pairs or groups of 3. The last part was a 'sniff and scout' exercise. The group split into 2 teams, and within each team, some were sniffers. We had to sniff products and describe them so the 'scouters' could find them quickly. The team that found the most won. We all got a free Lush product when we left, which was nice. The shop floor trial was about being on the shop floor to see how you interact with customers and help the store. You got feedback during it, like being told to ask more open questions, but also got positive feedback. You could do demos and anything other staff could do. If the store was empty, you'd team up with a staff member who'd pretend to be a customer, and you'd have to recommend and demo stuff. It was really fun! The one-on-one interview started with talking about your performance, like how you found the trial and what you could have done better. Then, they asked interview questions.
- Tell me about your favorite Lush product and the reason behind it.
- Can you share an instance where you received excellent customer service, and what aspects made it good?
- What are the key components of effective teamwork?
Customer Assistant
I did a trail shift first, then had a 1-1 interview for about 30 mins. They asked me situational questions about handling tough situations. The trail shift was pretty intense, they really pushed us to upsell products and get people in the store, with a goal for every customer to buy three things. They didn't get back to me after I emailed them about the job.
- Can you describe a time you handled a difficult situation?
- Could you introduce yourself?
- What's your understanding of Lush?
Customer Assistant
It was a group interview with around 30 other people. It had 4 parts: first, we had to pick a gift box for a pretend customer and describe a product. Then, we had to point out problems in a video showing a bad customer consultation. After that, one applicant gave a consultation to another applicant, and finally, there was a one-on-one interview.
- Tell me why you're interested in working for Lush.
- What difficulties do you anticipate encountering in this position?
- Could you describe the traits that would enable you to provide 5-star customer service?
