Account Executive
The interview process was pretty unique. The first round was pretty standard, but the second round interview got a little weird. The second interview involved shadowing someone in their sales territory. I spent a lot of time driving around the metroplex, basically bothering small businesses to partner with Staples, and they clearly weren't interested. There was a working lunch involved, which I had to pay for, and it included a presentation that looked like a multi-level marketing scheme. I'd avoid this one.
- Which movie character would you be, and why?
Social Media Intern
After applying I was quickly contacted to schedule a preliminary interview. This first interview was around 20 minutes long and covered your basic interview questions as well as a short tour of the office and meeting some of the team. I was then contacted for a second interview shortly after that where I was asked more in-depth questions and job logistics. The interviews were formal and professional but not overly intimidating; it was overall a very positive experience of the company getting to know me and me them. Dress code is business professional.

Marketing and Sales Intern
It was a three part process. The first interview was super easy and short, I wasn’t well prepared and did an okay job. I was actually surprised that I got a call back based on that interview, which seemed like a red flag since most jobs who are less picky means that they have a higher turnover rate. I then got a call to come back the next day and met with some staff, I learned about the position and what it required. It was mostly fundraising for their non-profit orgs that they work with. Overall it went really well and had many pros. The cons include the pay, the base pay for the position I was trying to get was $150 per week +commissions or as they call them bonuses but they do have different stages where you get promoted and the base wage goes up. From what I gather though, they don’t end their day till after 6, and they start at 8. Also the “fundraising” is you tabling up in areas such as the mall or a store and trying to get people to donate to the non profit corps which is okay, just that they seemed evasive about that for some reason and kept promoting it as events instead, perhaps they did do concerts and such in the past. Overall I would’ve taken the job if it weren’t for some other personal issues and low base wage.
