JavaScript Developer
So, the first step was a 30-minute chat with HR where we talked about the company, went over my resume, what I'm looking for in a role, and why I'm interested. After that, I had a 45-minute interview with a Software Development Engineer. Then, about two weeks later, I got the offer or not.
- Could you discuss two projects you've completed and any problems you encountered?
- How would you approach solving a problem given a specific project situation?
- Are you able to answer some basic questions to confirm your technical abilities?
Javascript Engineer
A tech recruiter reached out on LinkedIn, and I set up a call for three days later. It was a brief, informal chat about my background and experience. Following that, I spoke with a Consultant. We discussed my experience, the company's culture, and mutual expectations. The conversation lasted 25 minutes, and I received an offer the same day.
- What's your favorite part about being a software engineer and what's important to you in a remote role?
- What do you like most about being a software engineer, and what do you value in a remote job?
Javascript Engineer
The recruiter initiated contact with an unusual question about salary expectations for a remote role, which felt presumptuous as they assumed I was working in an office. They didn't provide a salary range and rejected my stated number, which I found unnecessary. It would be better if they posted salary ranges upfront to avoid such conversations.
- What are your salary expectations?
