First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lumenalta.
Backend Developer
The process was pretty good, with a screening, a coding challenge, and a technical interview. I received feedback at every stage, and things moved smoothly and quickly. I got the offer in less than two weeks.
- During the technical interview, a situation about frontend/backend interaction was presented, exploring synchronous and asynchronous communications. Various scenarios were analyzed to understand how I would handle each, considering security, performance, and trade-offs. It was a dynamic exercise related to design systems.
Senior Backend Engineer
Had 2 interviews, including a Ruby on Rails test and a database test. The first interview was about my background and daily tasks. The tests were straightforward and quick. The tricky part was the technical interview, which the interviewer delayed. They then asked how I would implement something I'd already done in the tests. When I pointed this out and explained my approach from the tests, they changed the interview's direction and concluded it.
- Describe your process for coordinating with front-end developers to establish requirements for a REST API and delegate responsibilities.
Backend Developer
First, I spoke with a recruiter about the role and what they were looking for. We had some technical issues during the call, so they rescheduled for the following week. Then, I completed a brief online assessment covering Javascript, AWS, and general web architecture. After that, I had a discussion with a developer about my test results. Finally, they extended an offer.
- Which AWS service do you like the most, and what improvements could be made to the system you evaluated?
- What are your thoughts on potential improvements for this system?
