First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Luby's.
Manager
Sent in my application via email. Had a phone call. Then a return call discussion. Following that was testing and a background check. Had another discussion. Then a salary review. Then an in-person one-on-one interview. Did a store walk-through. Met with the General Manager. They made an offer, which I accepted. Started training and working very quickly after the offer was sealed and we both agreed. Worked there for five years. Libya bought us two years into my tenure.
- What are my 2-year career goals?
Assistant Manager
First I spoke with a recruiter, which was a new thing for me. Then I got an interview with the head of HR Hiring, and we met in person. The regional president jumped in for part of that interview. The hiring process itself was okay. The GM at my training spot was amazing, but working for the GM at my assigned location was awful. I suspect many good young managers have left because of him, and I'm one of them!
- Can you tell me about your weaknesses?
Manager
Had a phone interview first. That then moved to a couple of back-to-back interviews at their office. They give the standard psych evaluation and a test like Wonderlic. Drug screening is also part of it.
- Were you asked if you enjoy cooking?
- Were you asked about your daily and weekly work hours?
