First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lower.
Mortgage Loan Officer
The interview process involved 3 interviews total. Two were virtual, and one was an in-person panel interview. The process was pretty relaxed and moved quickly. I got an offer a few days after the final interview.
- How would you respond if a borrower was offered a lower interest rate by someone else?
Loan Officer
The interview was pretty easy and relaxed. They asked laid-back questions. Having sales, marketing, or management experience would be helpful for most of the questions. If you have experience in mortgages and banking, transferring your career into this field will be much easier.
- How would you describe your leadership style?
Loan Officer
It was a 2 step interview process. First a phone screen, then a panel interview. They did change this rapidly though as the market adjusted. They usually asked questions about loan experience, checking for experience and ability to sell.
- Can you tell me about your monthly loan sales volume and your lead sources?
- What are your typical monthly loan sales figures and how do you source those deals?
Operations Analyst
I had a quick screening call, followed by an hour-long Zoom with the hiring manager. It was mostly standard interview questions about my strengths, weaknesses, and past experiences. I got a job offer in early August and accepted it with a mid-September start date. After signing, I had trouble getting info from the recruiter about my start date and was told they didn't have one yet. When I followed up in mid-September, I found out my position wouldn't start until January. The lack of communication was really disappointing. Plans can change, but I felt completely in the dark until I asked for updates. It made me feel unimportant and disposable. I'd caution others to be careful planning around an offer from Lower.
- Can you share an instance where you set a goal and successfully accomplished it?
