I had an interview with the director of school counseling, the registrar, and another counselor. It was a panel interview where they asked me questions directly related to the tasks I would be doing in the position. They mentioned that being a people person and organized really helps in this role, and that experience handling records is a plus.

Case Behavioral

The interview experience was very negative and lasted only six minutes, with me being interviewed by a Principal and someone from their central office. I was frequently interrupted and felt like the interviewer was trying to intimidate me, sometimes leaning in and cutting me off mid-sentence to ask another question, or looking away and checking his phone. It felt like a power struggle rather than a professional assessment. The other person in the room seemed uncomfortable with the treatment I received. I almost left but maintained professionalism. The initial contact with the secretary was also unpleasant, and they only offered one interview time, which was inflexible and required me to reschedule a medical procedure. I believe interview treatment reflects the overall experience at a company and advise paying attention to it.

After submitting my application online, I got an email a week later to come in for an interview at a school in Sterling. I met with an assistant principal for a face-to-face interview. They asked me a lot of questions about my teaching experience and gave me some information about students and other special education teachers. The assistant principal also explained the hiring process, mentioning that HR and the central office would be in touch.

Behavioral Technical

I went to a job fair in late winter hoping to get a job for the next school year. I talked with two principals. We chatted about my work history and some general stuff about teaching, like how I handle the classroom, using tech, and working with other teachers. They told me that sometimes at job fairs later in the year, they hire people right away, but since the jobs for the next year weren't posted yet, this was more of an initial screening. They mentioned I could apply online later.
