First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at London Health Sciences Centre.
Registered Nurse
The interview was about 20 minutes long and took place in a relaxed setting over Microsoft Teams. There were two parts to it: one with HR and another with the nursing manager. The HR part focused on behavioral questions, while the nursing manager asked clinical questions.
- Can you share an instance where you faced a problem?
Registered Nurse
First, there was a quick 10-minute phone call with recruitment, they scheduled it by email. They asked some basic questions about my experience and preferences for work location, and one situational question. Then I had my first in-person HR interview, which was supposed to be 45 minutes but mine was shorter. No writing was involved, and most questions were situational. Some of the situational questions were a bit unusual, but if you're ready for them, they're not too hard. Everyone in HR was really nice and made me feel comfortable. If you do well, they'll schedule you for a simulation, and you can optionally take a simulation prep class. After passing the simulation, there's usually an interview with the specific unit you're applying to, plus a reference check, before they give you an offer.
- Describe a situation where you couldn't finish a task by the end of your shift.
- What action would you take upon finding a patient unconscious?
- Recount an instance where you made an error. What steps did you take immediately after? How might you approach it differently in retrospect?
Registered Nurse
There were 2 interviews. First one was a virtual behavioral interview with HR, then second one was in person interview with managers and mainly clinical scenarios. Each interview took 30 to 40 minutes long. Interviewers were friendly.
- Tell me about a time you had to float to another unit and what you did.
- Tell me about a time you provided exemplary service.
- Describe a time you had multiple urgent tasks at once.
