The interview felt like a chat, exploring things rather than feeling like an interrogation. After a few interview rounds, I actually found myself wanting to join the company even more. The people I met seemed smart and capable, and also seemed happy with the company and what they were trying to achieve.

I had a recruiter call, it was pretty standard and I felt like I answered everything asked. I tried to be more engaging by asking about company culture, but the recruiter was really distant and robotic. Even though I didn't get the job, the experience made me not want to work there anyway because the recruiter was so disconnected.

So I applied for a Marketing Manager job at Logical Position. First, there was a phone screen. Then, I had a virtual interview with the hiring manager where we talked about my background, my strategic ideas, and my experience running campaigns. It was a professional process and really showed me that the company is focused on results and likes to work together.

Had about 3-4 interviews, starting with personality and moving to skills. I was really put off by how inexperienced the interviewers seemed in judging skills. They told me with 5 years in the role, I was inexperienced but couldn't say why. Just stop the interview earlier or email me if you don't like me, instead of wasting an hour when you've clearly decided but are just going through the motions. Specifically, this happened during a discussion about a side project I just started. The interviewer misunderstood my approach and intent on a feature, and kept saying I was bad at what I do because I was cutting a corner on a feature that would be removed anyway. To me, this shows the company's technical leadership doesn't really get tech debt and willingly takes on work that causes unnecessary tasks that don't get used by the business.
