Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lockton Companies.
Summer Associate
The interview process was really quick and easy. It involved one interview with the hiring team and then a final one with the manager of the team you would be joining. It was mostly behavioral questions, but you should be ready for some simple questions on the fundamentals of commercial insurance.
- Can you describe your previous internship experience?
- What are the essential elements of commercial insurance?
Senior Associate
I spoke with HR first and they seemed really enthusiastic. Then I had my second interview with the hiring manager, but she was 15 minutes late. I had to reach out to HR because the hiring manager never showed up, and she eventually joined the call saying she got the time mixed up. Another person was supposed to be on the call but didn't show. The call itself was pretty straightforward and I felt it went well. I sent a follow-up. A month later, HR contacted me for another interview with the same hiring manager and their boss. On this call, only the hiring manager's boss was present. The call went okay, but the interviewer seemed bothered when I mentioned my salary expectations had increased since our last discussion, explaining it was because I'd been interviewing elsewhere and realized the initial figure wasn't competitive. The call ended strangely, and I felt really put off. I sent thank you notes to HR and the interviewer and haven't heard back since. Honestly, the company seems disorganized. I've accepted another offer and still haven't heard from them.
- What is your motivation for wanting to work at Lockton and specifically within the insurance industry?
- Describe your approach to managing and prioritizing multiple tasks.
Summer Associate
Applied in December and after that heard back for personality and skills exams. The interview was supposed to be in LA but I couldn't go so it was over a video call app. We had to try 2 times before we could get it right the third time. After the interview, I had to write a 500 word essay on why I should be the associate. I didn't get the internship but it was a learning experience.
- In your opinion, what makes you the most suitable candidate for the summer associate position?
