First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lob.
Solutions Engineer
My interview experience at Lob was really confusing. It started with a phone screen, and then I was set up to talk to the hiring manager right before Christmas. But, the hiring manager just didn't show up for our call. The recruiter said they'd get back to me, but I didn't hear anything until I got a rejection email on Christmas Eve. I'm not really sure what happened, maybe the recruiter messed up or they already had someone else. Anyway, it felt disorganized and unprofessional to get rejected so suddenly without any explanation.
- Can you tell me about your experience working within the digital media sector?
Technical Support Specialist
For the Technical Solutions Specialist or Solution Engineer roles, be aware they might not be hiring. You'll go through multiple interviews and assignments, only to be told later that the role requirements are changing due to restructuring. Make sure you have a clear timeline for hiring and a start date before proceeding. I initially applied for Technical Support Specialist, but was told I was overqualified in the final interview and recommended for the Solutions Engineer role. After that final interview, I was informed that neither position would have an offer extended because the organization is restructuring the requirements for both. It was a waste of my time and effort for over 4 weeks.

Software Engineer
The interview process started with a recruiter call, followed by a call with the engineering manager. After that, there was either a take-home assignment that took about 3-4 hours or a live coding screen. The take-home assignment was reviewed. Then came a virtual onsite, which was about 3.5 hours, likely all in one day. The virtual onsite was mostly standard, but included a presentation on a past project, which was a lot of work for me. I got a standard rejection with no feedback, which was disappointing given the over 10 hours I invested in interviews and prep. It seems like companies don't value my time, so I'll be valuing it more going forward.
- Can you discuss your experience with system design?
- Can you discuss your soft skills?
Social Media Manager
It was a long interview process. I had an interview with the hiring manager, then it moved to the assignment stage and a 4-hour interview. The hiring manager said I looked too young for the job, even though I had more than enough qualifications. It was a waste of my time and energy. The hiring manager was also condescending. They should really rethink their process to stop wasting people's time.
