so I applied for four roles with Lloyds, initially senior and mid-weight software engineer roles. I interviewed for the senior one but got rejected after my second interview for not having enough lead experience, which wasn't in the job description. The mid-weight role rejected me immediately with no details. Then I tried for a Senior Fullstack role that fit my skills. After a while, I had an AI-marked assessment interview, which I thought went well, but I was rejected the next day. My last shot was a Frontend role, which I know I'm good at. They immediately moved me to a JavaScript role, saying 'Frontend' wasn't offered but it's the same thing. I aced that interview! Then they ghosted me for two months, even after I followed up. Today, I got an email saying they aren't proceeding because the role doesn't exist (they moved me to it), my salary expectations were too high (even though it was at the bottom of the band), and they questioned my commitment to a skills-first approach despite me passing the technical assessment with no other interviews.

The interview process was good. They respected my time and arranged everything as expected. It was an in-office interview with a coding test, two technical discussions, a behavioral discussion, and an HR discussion which is yet to happen. I'll update once it's done.

So I spoke with weareams consultancy, and they first processed my profile for a principal software engineer role. Then, they scheduled a 2nd round interview for a senior software engineer role, which was a bit confusing as they didn't seem to have clear info on the roles. The first round was a technical interview on the Karat platform. It involved a system design problem where I had to map out current system flows, pinpoint issues, and suggest improvements. There were also two other system design questions. The second round was a behavioral interview with some standard questions.

Confirmed questions7 questions
  • Regarding the system design problem, what are the flows in the current system, what are the issues, and how would you improve the system design?
  • What makes you want to work for Lloyds bank?
  • Can you tell me why you are looking to switch jobs?
