Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lloyds Banking Group.
Manager
This is an interview for a manager, which is a structured conversation to check out the candidate's leadership skills, experience, and ability to lead a team to meet company goals. During the interview, they ask the candidate about their past management experience, how they make decisions, and how they handle things like planning, problem-solving, and managing performance.
- Tell me about a situation where you had to resolve a conflict among your team members.
Senior Manager
It was a two-stage interview process, first an in-depth experience-based discussion and then a case study. Since it was an internal move, there weren't many generic questions. The case study was specific to the area. I thought it was a fair and effective process overall.
- Can you tell me why you're interested in this role?
Risk Manager
So there were two rounds in the interview process, and they were both pretty much focused on competency and values. The first interview was more heavily weighted on competency than the second. The second interview also felt like a chance for the hiring manager and senior manager to get to know me better on a personal level too. Overall, it was a good experience and not too tough, as long as you have a good handle on answering competency-based questions.
- Describe a situation where you encountered a specific challenge.
- Can you share an instance when you had to make a tough call?
- Give an example of when you showed good leadership.
