Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

It usually starts with a short call (20–30 minutes) with a recruiter. They'll want to know about your motivation, if you get SSE and the energy sector, and some basic competency stuff. Then, there's an Assessment Centre or Virtual Interview. For summer placements, this might be totally online or a half-day in-person thing. This part can have a competency-based interview where they ask behavioural questions using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) focusing on teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and adaptability. There might also be a Technical / Business Case Discussion where you'll look at a scenario related to SSE Thermal projects, like figuring out if a hydrogen-ready power plant is a good idea.

Coding Behavioral Presentation Group Technical

The process was quite long, with 2 main stages. The first stage was online and included several tasks and recorded behavioral interview questions. There were about 5-6 coding questions; the first 5 were quite simple, but the last one was a bit tough. This stage lasted around 2.5-3 hours, which wasn't communicated beforehand. After that, there was an assessment centre that lasted about 6 hours. It involved a presentation you give on a topic they provide before the AC. There was also a group task followed by questions about your contributions. An engineering task required writing pseudocode and proposing solutions to problems, which was a bit frustrating due to a lot of information and the inability to easily revisit slides. They also conducted another behavioral interview asking about motivations for working at Lloyds and past projects. The process concluded with a long wait for a rejection and a lack of promised feedback, making the overall experience disappointing after investing so much time.

The interview process was quite smooth. After I applied for the Returnership program, an initial screening call was scheduled within a week. I wasn't expecting any technical questions during this first screening.
