Product Manager
I had a good initial phone screen with the recruiting team where I learned about the role, company, and culture. I was then scheduled for a second phone call which turned out to be one of the worst interviews I've experienced. I gained very little insight into the position during this conversation. The interviewer gave one-word answers to critical questions about the culture, daily tasks, and job challenges, and seemed disengaged. They even misunderstood a question about their own role, asking if I wanted to know what their product does.
- Can you provide a brain teaser?
- Could you describe your current responsibilities?
- Describe the company culture.
Product Manager
Submitted my resume and then heard back from a recruiter. I had a 30-minute phone chat with the recruiter who then set me up with a PM. Then I had a 30-minute phone interview with that PM. He asked me to walk him through my resume and then asked some general questions about my leadership roles, quant skills, and experience. Then he hit me with scenario questions about how I'd deal with requests from different customers and how I'd tackle certain problems.
- Given a Twitter handle, how would you find a way to connect it to a person on Facebook?
Product Manager
I had a really rough interview experience. It felt like such a waste of my time. I started with a recruiter who didn't seem to know much about the job or the team. They said I'd get more details about the role from the hiring manager, and that interview was set up, but then it got canceled just an hour before. I waited a week to reschedule, and it was canceled again the day before because the manager had a 'conflict'! By the time the recruiter contacted me a week later to try and schedule another call with someone who at least knew a bit about the company, I wasn't interested anymore because I had already accepted another offer.
