Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Littler Mendelson.
Associate Attorney
It's the standard process you'd expect at most big law firms. They really dove deep into some of my writing samples and got into the nitty-gritty of certain jobs, probably to see if I could think and analyze quickly. All in all, it was a good interview.
- What prompted your interest in relocating?
Associate Attorney
I met one on one with five different attorneys. One attorney was an associate, the rest were partner-level. They asked a lot of questions geared specifically toward employment law, as you would expect. Be prepared for good responses as to why you have limited experience in employment law if that is the boat you're in. They are really only interested in people who already have some experience in employment law.
- What experience do you have in employment law and why do you want to practice it?
Associate Attorney
I had five interviews, each lasting about 20-30 minutes. Usually, there were two lawyers in each, typically a shareholder and an associate. It felt more like a casual chat about personality and fit, not super technical. They mainly wanted to get to know me and see if I was interested in joining the firm.
- Tell me about your experience in labor and employment.
- What makes you interested in labor and employment?
