First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Littler Mendelson.
Immigration Law Clerk
After applying, I was contacted by the recruiter quickly. My first interview was scheduled soon after and went great. It took about two weeks to hear back before the second interview was scheduled. This second interview was honestly one of the worst I've ever experienced. From the very beginning, the interviewer was condescending and dismissive. Instead of having a real conversation, they seemed more focused on being in charge than learning about me or what I can do. What should have been a helpful discussion felt hostile and awkward. I'm sharing this in hopes it leads to more professional and respectful interactions going forward.
- Can you tell me about your work experience?
- What kinds of applications have you handled?
Associate
It was a casual, non-technical chat. They asked about my past experiences and my current and expected compensation. They also asked why I wanted to leave my previous firm. The whole thing lasted about 30-45 minutes.
- Tell me about your past experiences.
- What's your previous background?
- Why did you want to leave your previous firm?
Ebilling Specialist
So, the interview included an aptitude test, plus a test of my Excel skills. There were also math and logic tests. At the very beginning, they told me my percentile. They mentioned that people with lower scores don't get interviewed. It also seemed like they expect overtime, since other people in the group work 5-10 extra hours every week.
- About how many emails do you get each day?
Special Counsel
I was contacted by a recruiter who encouraged me to apply even though I wasn't actively looking. After I applied, they set up an initial interview with the person in charge of the EPLI counsel program. I sent a thank you note, and then had a second interview with some local managing partners. I sent them thank you notes too. Afterward, the recruiter called to let me know the firm decided not to move forward, but didn't give a reason why.
- Can you tell me about any career transitions you've made?
- What is your experience with jury and bench trials, specifically how many have you led as first or second chair?
- What's prompting your job search at this time?
