Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lithia & Driveway.
Accounting Clerk
Applying online was pretty easy. The first step was a phone call screening. After that, I had to do some assessments that took about 45 minutes. Then, I got set up for an in-person interview, which I wasn't thrilled about since I rely on public transport. The interview itself was chill, mostly basic questions about my qualifications, but they threw in a couple of curveballs, like how I'd deal with an irate customer barging into the office demanding a check. I felt good about it, but got rejected within 24 hours, so at least it was fast.
- What would you do if a customer came in demanding a rebate check immediately for a flight, but their paperwork was missing a signature?
- How do you feel about getting direct feedback or criticism?
Accountant
A Lithia HR person reached out after seeing my resume online. We had an initial interview and an assessment test. Unfortunately, I didn't pass the assessment tests. One test was about attention to detail and numbers, and the other (which I disagree with) was a psychological test to see if I fit their work model. Honestly, I'm glad I didn't pass that test because I wouldn't want to work for a company that tries to fit people into a specific mold.
- The recruiter described the job and asked if I was interested, then we went over my past work experience.
- I explained my previous roles and the reasons for leaving them.
- What kind of work are you interested in?
Accountant
I waited about 5 minutes, then was called back to the manager's office. We had a 30-minute conversation covering the job responsibilities and expectations. They also inquired about my background and how it aligns with their requirements.
- What unique value can you bring to this role?
