Software Engineer Intern
The recruiter reached out for a quick call and then set up an initial round with the hiring manager. The first round covered resume details and general CS concepts. The second round was a quick round on JavaScript.
- Tell me about your experience using tech x in project y.
- Could you explain the workings of DNS?
- How well do you know JavaScript?
Software Developer
I first met one of the managers at a job fair on campus. He talked about the company, and I discussed my background, programming knowledge, parallel processing, and multi threading skills. He was impressed and arranged an onsite interview. The first part involved a 5.5-hour session with three interviewers. The first interviewer asked general software engineering, object-oriented, and OS questions like mutual exclusion and semaphores. The second interviewer asked about HTML, CSS, Javascript, and data structures, specifically the fastest way to traverse a spanning tree. The last interviewer gave me C/C++ programs with errors to find, correct, and optimize. The manager was friendly, and based on his feedback, I believe I got the job.
- A lot of C/C++ questions were asked, mainly about pointers and their usage.
- There were numerous questions regarding multi-threading and parallel processing, exploring their differences concerning CPU, memory management, and the network.
Software Developer
I went through 2 phone interviews for this role.
- Can you explain how you'd implement sets and the intersection operation, and what the complexity would be?
