Technical Presentation

I went through a 2-round interview process, first online, then onsite. The hiring manager was nice, but HR made it really difficult. HR messed up the interview date three times. The worst part was when I got onsite for the final round, I waited 30 minutes and then they told me there was another scheduling mistake and I should have been there on a different day. I took time off work and prepared a special technical presentation, and to get a standard rejection with no feedback and then see the job reposted right away was really unprofessional.

The hiring process started with a resume screening. Next, there was an English exam covering listening, reading, and speaking, similar to the TOEFL format. Following that, an AI interview was conducted where the AI used previous answers for deeper probing, suggesting prior preparation is beneficial, and questions will align with the job description. The final stage was a 1-on-1 interview with the Manager.

I got to the final interview stage with two young team members. Although it was an all-English program, they started testing my Mandarin skills right away. It seemed like they were looking for someone who could also speak Mandarin, which is a red flag for a program advertised as foreigner-friendly and an English internship. Despite this, the interview was going well, and they were friendly. However, midway through, they insisted on needing a very 'specific' person for their team, something that wasn't even in the job description. They had my resume and an AI video interview for weeks, but only at the final stage did they realize I might not be a good fit for the role. It felt like my time was wasted preparing. They could have considered me for one of the other five positions that seemed more aligned with my resume. I also felt that an HR manager or someone more senior should conduct the final interview, not junior team members who apparently didn't even review my resume beforehand. They should also specify any required skills in the job description if they're looking for something particular.

First, there was a phone interview where we talked about my background and I introduced myself. Then, I had an on-site interview that focused on my personal work experience and the job description for the new position. Finally, I had another on-site interview with HR to talk about benefits.
