So the interview process was like this: First, we had an initial Zoom interview with the main manager, just chatting about my background and why I was interested. Then, I got a written assignment with two scenario questions about writing clear emails – one was a client inquiry response and the other was about helping an account executive onboard. After that, I had two more Zoom interviews, but with people not on my direct team, still asking basic questions. The penultimate step was preparing a presentation on a topic related to the job. Finally, I went in person for my presentation and then had a sit-down interview with the head of engineering and the hiring manager to talk about general and job-specific stuff.

The process was fast, responsive, and detailed. It involved 3 interviews and a project. One of the interviews was a series of 15-minute speed interviews with several employees. I got feedback quickly after submitting the project.

I applied online. A recruiter got in touch and set up a phone screen with a software engineer. The call had standard behavioral questions and then technical questions about the role's tech. Be ready to explain everything in depth if asked. The interviewer was mostly okay, but I can see why people say he can be condescending. I advanced to the next stage, a 3-hour coding challenge. I won't give away details to be fair, but it's not too hard, just very time-consuming. After the coding test, they never replied, so I assume I didn't make it. They should have at least let me know.

This was easily the worst interview process ever. It was super disorganized, took way too long, and they communicated things poorly. I had a quick initial phone interview (like 20 mins), then got invited for on-site interviews. The on-site was pretty standard, mostly asking about my past work. I mentioned I had another offer and needed to decide by the end of the week, and they said they'd reply by Friday midday. But by the end of that day, the recruiter told me they'd get back to me next Tuesday at the earliest. Tuesday passed, and I figured that was it. Two weeks later, my recruiter contacted me again saying they were interested in an offer, that they were trying to get financial approvals. I doubt it takes that long at a small company, but despite this and other red flags from the silence, I gave them another shot. I told my recruiter I'd need to see the offer letter first. Looking back, I shouldn't have. When I finally got the offer, I barely got to look at it before the recruiter called back within 12 hours saying they wanted to put it on hold. They can keep it on hold permanently.
