First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lincoln Tech.
Education Supervisor
I had a phone call where the recruiter shared some pretty wild stories about his time in the classroom with what he called "hoodlum" students. After that, I came in for an in-person interview and was surprised to see four people there ready to ask me a bunch of questions. We also took a tour of the place. At the end, they said I'd hear back by the end of the week. It ended up being three weeks later when I got an email saying they went with someone whose background was a closer fit for what they needed. Given the questions they asked, I'm guessing that person was a guy.
- How will you navigate being a woman in an area where most people in charge are men?
Admissions Representative
I had an interview where the hiring manager was late, joking with the receptionist. He then described the job, which turned out to be outside sales, contradicting the posting. He denied it was a sales role, but his assistant confirmed it was, and the pay was low without commission. The manager's appearance and demeanor were unprofessional. I decided not to proceed because it wasn't a good fit and I felt they were being deceptive.
- Would you be alright with working outdoors and traveling constantly to different schools to find potential students for the admissions team?
Admissions Representative
The whole thing took 4 weeks. Started with a group interview call, then a phone interview the next day. After that, another call narrowed it down to two people for a work day interview. This involved shadowing staff, touring the facility, and answering individual questions. It was a horrible experience and a lot of preparation went into it. They were really just looking for someone who could sell anything, very unprofessional, low quality, and bad communication from the hiring manager. The girl chosen showed up late, wore leggings, and couldn't answer questions about the gathered information, but she got the job because she could lie and sell a lie. It was a very different experience than I've ever seen. I suggest not having high hopes or expectations.
- Can you share a past experience with sales goals?
Admissions Representative
The place was super quiet, almost boring. First, it was a panel interview, which nobody was expecting because the interviewer didn't tell us. Then, she split us into one-on-one interviews and asked about our experience. She liked my interview and told me to wait to meet the President. I waited, and he interviewed me. The next day, I was called in to interview with the VP and National Manager. Phew! I think I did well, just waiting for my background check to clear.
