First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center.
Patient Care Assistant
It was pretty easy and fast. They asked about my experience and why I wanted to work at the hospital. The nurses are fine, and so is HR and the nursing staff, but they mostly seem to have their favorites.
- Why are you interested in working at this hospital?
Registered Nurse
There was an open call interview with various hiring managers from different units. They asked what unit/s I was interested in, and I had to wait in line to interview with the managers. I ended up interviewing for the ER because I already have med-surg experience, and the line for med-surg was really long.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in joining our unit?
- What specific skills do you possess that you believe will contribute to your success here?
- Could you share an example of a conflict resolution scenario you encountered and how you managed it?
Medical Records Specialist
The manager interviewing me was overheard telling colleagues that he should have researched me more. He then apologized to his colleagues for disappointing them with the candidate (me). There was no interview, just a coding exam. I was told 'we'll be in touch next week' but never heard back. This was the most discriminatory interview I've ever experienced due to the conversation I overheard. It's a surefire way to get sued for discrimination.

Clerical Associate
After passing an exam and getting ranked by score, you'll get a mailed notice with an interview date. Once you're there, you'll choose from three facilities present that day. You'll meet 1-3 people from each facility for a 10-20 minute interview with each. Each facility then decides to approve or deny you, and you'll sign that day. This all happens before your background check and medical clearance.
- Given a specific scenario involving a patient issue, how would you resolve it? It's important to mention that you would follow the chain of command, as the HHC network generally doesn't have an open door policy.
