I applied for a Customer Support Associate job, but it turned out to be an onboarding position evaluation, which the director confirmed. The interview process was a bit strange. It started with a standard initial screener. Then, I had an interview with the director, which is usually where you'd meet a team lead or manager. This felt more like a chat about team dynamics than an actual evaluation. The director was upfront about the company being fast-paced, disorganized, and having messy processes, warning that not everyone lasts because of the internal chaos. The last interview was a Topgrading interview with a VP, and the person who did the initial screener was also there to take notes. This part involved asking for very detailed memories of my academic performance and job history, going all the way back to high school. They even asked speculative questions about what former colleagues might say about my performance from almost ten years ago. For a customer support role, even one focused on onboarding, the whole process seemed overly intense and rigid. Although the interviewers were polite, the format didn't allow for much discussion about the actual job duties, how the team works, or what success looks like. A lot of the talk was about past details instead of evaluating skills relevant to the role advertised... or, in my case, the role I was actually being interviewed for.

First, we had a phone call with an HR rep where they asked general questions about me and my past experience. Then, I had a take-home assignment with various questions to see if I am customer-oriented. Finally, there was a video interview with two senior level representatives where they asked more specific questions relating to skills and a mock cold call scenario.
