The whole process was clear and transparent from the start, it took about 1.5 to 2 months. It started with an HR interview, then a technical challenge to be delivered in 5 days. After the technical challenge, there was an interview with the role's leadership, and the final stage was accepting the offer.

I interviewed from out of state, mostly over the phone and Skype, planning to relocate to California. The interview process was generally okay but took a turn at the end. First, I spoke with the department manager by phone for a general chat about my interest and basic technical skills. Then, I had a Skype call with the manager and a team member for more basic troubleshooting questions. About a week later, I had another Skype call with a different Liferay team member, going deeper into my technical background and troubleshooting. After that, I was given two support tickets and asked to record my screen showing how I'd reproduce the issues. I had 4 days to learn their software, installation, and reproduce the problems, and it took about 10 days to get my screen recording results back. Finally, they invited me for an in-person interview on-site, covering my flight, rental car, and hotel. The on-site was about 4 hours, meeting with several senior team members and upper management.

I started applying for a UI role at Liferay in my last semester of college. After a few weeks and email confirmation, they scheduled a phone interview. It took them a couple weeks to get back to me after that. When I reached out again, they invited me for an interview for the Junior Customer Support position, thinking it might be a better match. The interview itself went pretty well, though it felt a bit formal and they were hard to engage with even when I asked them questions. In the end, I was hired for the three-month UI internship I originally applied for. I wasn't hired after the internship concluded. The whole process from applying to being hired took about two months, which I felt was a bit long, but I appreciated that they tried to help me find a good fit. The HR person was especially helpful throughout this time.
