The interview process was quite interesting and engaging. A few things that really stood out were: 1) the application questions themselves were interesting and clearly tied to LifeLabs Learning's values and the role's requirements, 2) submitting a video application helped ensure I had the core facilitation skills they looked for, saving time if I wasn't a fit, 3) the process was clearly communicated via email, making preparation easier, and 4) the interviewing team was open to giving feedback right away, offering actionable insights that could greatly improve my current work. I still use that feedback a year into the company. The main point was to 'q-step', which means asking more questions to clarify thinking and get to the heart of an issue or challenge.
- Demo interview: some questions asked were geared toward common questions participants ask in that workshop (Feedback Skills), to gauge how you manage questions on the spot, and how you navigate answering them.
- Knowledge interview: questions revolved around some of your favorite research studies in leadership and adult learning theory.
- Company fit: behavioral questions were the core of this interview. Questions ranged from a time when you managed conflict, describing a time when you worked with someone you didn't agree with, things you learned in previous roles, etc. There was also a moment of role playing "difficult participant comments" that included comments rooted in bias, for example.

The interview process had three main parts. First, I had to complete an application that involved a lot of writing to answer some common screening questions. Then, I had a self-paced writing assessment through Survey Monkey, which mostly had behavioral questions. They said it was a 90-minute limit, but there wasn't a timer on Survey Monkey, so I wasn't sure if I went over. You should probably set your own timer just to be safe. Lastly, there was a Zoom interview, which was the final step.

The interview process at Lifelabs was unique and impressive, attracting top talent. I appreciated the clarity of the instructions, especially for remote interviews. The process was challenging in a good way, pushing me beyond my usual reliance on experience and relationship-building. It was designed to minimize bias and focus on skills, knowledge, and performance. I had to prepare thoroughly, manage my nerves, and genuinely showcase my abilities rather than just talking about them. It was a valuable opportunity to push myself and know I was hired based on merit. After each interview, I received constructive feedback, both positive and areas for improvement, which was incredibly helpful. The communication was also rapid between stages, reducing anxiety and uncertainty, unlike other experiences where I've waited weeks for updates. Although demanding, the interview journey highlighted Lifelabs' commitment to inclusive hiring and provided personal insights into my strengths and growth areas.
