It was a 30 minute interview with two people. They made the job sound better than it actually is. I honestly think you should wait for another job because you'll want to leave immediately. It was the worst week ever, so unorganized. I haven't even met the manager yet, and it's been a week.

The process for becoming a shelf stacker at Lidl starts with applying online. If they like your application, you'll have a quick phone call to talk about your background, when you can work, and why you want the job. After that, if they're still interested, you'll come in person for an interview. This is where they'll see if you're good with customers, can handle the physical work, work well with others, and if your schedule works for them. Sometimes, they might also have you do some online tests to see if you're a good fit for the job. If everything looks good, they might offer you the job, but they'll do a background check first.

It was a complete joke. The interview went well, and I was called to start working in early June. I brought the necessary documents and paid about 60 euros, and then they disappeared. I called about a week before the start date. After several attempts to reach them on my number, which they weren't answering, I tried with another number, and they immediately responded. I spoke with the same person who interviewed me, and they told me, with a shaky voice typical of someone who doesn't know what to say, that they needed to do some checks because it showed I had already worked in two branches (which was mentioned in the interview and is also on my CV). I then asked what the problem was, and they replied that the HR office had given this directive. Now I wonder, don't checks usually happen *before* asking for hiring documents? Especially since they have a cost, and presumably, someone unemployed might struggle to afford them. The company is unprofessional, and I consider myself lucky not to have started; if this is their idea of professionalism, it's better to stay away.
