Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Liberty Mutual Insurance.
Sales Associate
First there was an online assessment, then a 20-minute phone call with the recruiter. If the recruiter was happy with my answers, I was then invited to a video conference interview. Two managers asked me questions and also typed some questions in a chat box for me to answer simultaneously. After that, I had to do a mock call where I had to persuade the caller to close the sale. It was nerve-wracking but manageable.
- What would you do in certain scenarios?
- How would you handle specific situations?
Sales Associate
The phone interview was more in depth than the actual in-person interview. The in-person interview was more laid back. They asked typical interview questions which ranged from my experience to posing scenario's and asking for my response. They also give you five minutes to look over a booklet regarding one of their plans, and ask you to pitch the insurance plan to them.
- Can you share an instance where you encountered a challenging group dynamic, how you navigated it, and the result?
- Describe your previous experience.
- How would you handle a given scenario?
Sales Associate
I was called by a phone rep and asked to come to a hotel (Mariott) for an interview. When I got there, I saw about eight other people. Two guys greeted me. One was busy, but the other one seemed more interested in paying me to have breakfast with him than interviewing me. It was super awkward, and I left soon after finding out it was commission only.
- Would you like to have breakfast, on me?
