This was a long and thorough interview process. It took 7 weeks from the first call with the recruiter to a verbal job offer. I had 3 separate on-site visits where I interviewed one-on-one with the hiring manager, an HR generalist, and 4 VPs. Liberty Mutual uses the STAR method, and they don't ask tricky questions. The conversations are designed to see how your skills fit the job and if you're a good cultural and personality match. It's important to research the company and the role, and to prepare thoughtful questions. Everyone I met was very professional and friendly. The job offer is conditional on passing a background and reference check, which they start after you accept verbally. They handle the onboarding and benefits enrollment online while that's going on.

The process is highly automated with a confirmation once your application is received. You'll have an initial phone call to go over your application, resume, and the role. The first interview is scheduled with three different people, usually someone at your level, a customer, and possibly the hiring manager. They rely on their team to screen out anyone without the right technical skills before approving them for the second round of interviews with management and upper management. HR provides them with behavioral interview questions that they are required to ask and document.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • What project management tools are you familiar with, and can you provide an example of a difficult project situation you managed and how you resolved it?
  • Describe a time you had to deliver bad news to a client or stakeholder. How did you handle it?

The interview was a video call with the hiring manager. It was a clear and concise conversation where the hiring manager answered my questions about the role, department, and company. He mentioned he liked me and that HR would share his email for further questions. What happened after the interview was disappointing; I was ghosted. Despite sending emails to HR, who acknowledged receipt, I heard nothing further about next steps or rejection. The application status on the portal still shows 'Under Consideration.' I've learned from this experience and found a better job elsewhere.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The hiring manager explained how his department functions and described the day-to-day responsibilities of the position.
