I sent in my application online. About a month later, someone got in touch for a phone interview. The person on the phone was really nice, but honestly, it was the toughest phone interview I've ever had. They asked some basic resume questions, some behavioral questions, and a whole bunch of stuff about what actuaries do and the whole exam process. A few days after that, they called me for an on-site interview. I don't live super close to the office, but they set up my travel, including flights, a car to and from the airport, and a hotel for the night. It was a pretty good experience overall. The interview day was packed. It started with a presentation about the actuarial program, then I had to write a short piece on why I was interested in the job. After that, I had five one-on-one interviews, and we took a break for lunch with a couple of actuarial students. It was a long day, but I had fun. I really liked the vibe of the workplace, and everyone seemed really friendly and upbeat.

The recruiter handled the interview scheduling and travel, which was smooth. However, my out-of-pocket expenses for things like food, parking, and cabs weren't reimbursed as they said they would be. The interview day itself wasn't great. For an eight-hour day, I only got a drink with lunch and wasn't offered another one or a restroom break. When I asked for a restroom break between interviews, they said, "Well you can but then we will be late." One interviewer spent a lot of time talking negatively about where I currently live.

Started with a recruiter call, then got referred to the actuarial recruiter. We exchanged some emails, and one of them prompted me to apply. After submitting online, I got an email a few days later saying I made it to the first round, which was a phone interview. The phone interview was about 30-60 minutes and had basic questions, plus some about what you know about being an actuary. About two weeks after that, they told me I was moving on to the next round, which was in-person. They arranged my flight and hotel and set a date. I flew to Boston for the interview, which ran from 8 AM to about 1 PM, followed by a lunch with two actuarial assistants, which was like a casual interview. The interviews themselves went by pretty fast, and all the actuaries were really easy to talk to. It was great hearing about their experiences.
