First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LHH.
Recruiter
First interview with the area manager, went well even though I came from finance with no recruiting experience. Second interview with the regional manager, positive feedback. They asked for 3 references, and they called them (a nearly 1-hour conversation with one). They told me everything was perfect, even gave me an approximate salary band and a start date. Third interview with the director of Spain and LATAM, who said they preferred someone with recruiting experience. They asked personal questions that aren't allowed (children, where they study, how old they are, my husband's profession...). Fourth and final interview with the HR director, who spoke in a confirmed future tense instead of conditional ('you'll see this better when you're here,' 'at the beginning you'll do this...'). In this fourth interview, they said they'd contact me the following week. Almost a month and a half passed with silence. I contacted them, and they said they ultimately preferred someone with recruiting experience, even though they initially said it wasn't an issue for the role they wanted to fill. Totally incomprehensible and very unprofessional, especially when you present yourself as wanting to build a 'boutique in recruitment for banking and finance.'
- Tell me about how you would react to simulated client interactions or in specific possible situations.
- The third interview had a dismissive and sometimes superior tone, which I even considered a test, until they asked about private aspects of my life and family.
Executive Recruiter
You'll chat with your potential manager first, then meet some of your future coworkers. The whole thing moves pretty fast. You can ask all the questions you want in every round. Just remember you're talking to a recruiter, so be friendly and chatty.
- Is the base salary enough to get by while you get up to speed?
Talent Acquisition Coordinator
The recruiter was a bit late, which is understandable, but a heads-up would have been nice since we had been chatting on LinkedIn. We started by talking about my career goals and experience, and she seemed to think it was all a good fit. Then, we got into the specifics of the job, and she mentioned it was a contract role with little chance of going permanent. This wasn't clear from the job posting at all. The role itself was nothing like what I was after, and the details she gave me were the total opposite of what the posting described. It felt like a complete waste of time.
- What are your career aspirations?
- Could you share your expected salary range?
