Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LGC.
Chemist
It was an online interview first, then we had an in-person interview. They asked some test-like questions about chemistry knowledge. They asked me to analyze spectra and figure out molecular properties from experimental results. They also asked me to tell them about myself at the beginning.
- Can you describe your experience analyzing NMR spectra?
- What experience do you have with analyzing NMR spectra?
Scientist
The interview mainly focused on technical and scientific experience. They asked specific technical questions to evaluate my knowledge and practical experience in the field. There were no behavioral questions or questions about soft skills; instead, the focus was on technical competence and practical application.
- Tell me about your experience with various techniques and equipment.
- Can you elaborate on your knowledge and practical experience in this area?
- How would you describe your technical expertise and its practical application?
Senior Scientist
It was quite a thorough interview process, starting with a 15-20 minute presentation, then a 1-hour written test, followed by technical and HR interviews. After that, there was a lab tour. They have different scientist levels, from scientist 1-3 up to senior scientist 1-3, and you can even become a bioanalytical programme manager.
- What motivated your job change?
- Can you answer some questions about regulations?
