Commercial Manager
Screening, then a 1st stage and a 2nd stage (final). Made it to the final stage, then had to wait 2-3 weeks for the decision. Had to chase them up a few times. Turns out I was being strung along because ultimately no one got hired. When I asked for an explanation from either the recruiter or interviewer, I got no response. Basically, I was ghosted.
- Why are you interested in this position?
Scientist
The interview mainly focused on technical and scientific experience. They asked specific technical questions to evaluate my knowledge and practical experience in the field. There were no behavioral questions or questions about soft skills; instead, the focus was on technical competence and practical application.
- Tell me about your experience with various techniques and equipment.
- Can you elaborate on your knowledge and practical experience in this area?
- How would you describe your technical expertise and its practical application?
Graduate Trainee
The interview process started with a review of CV/Cover letter, followed by an initial online/video interview. Then, an assessment day was conducted which involved a group task and an individual presentation exercise, also including an interview. Overall, the entire interview process went smoothly, and the communication between the talent acquisition team and applicants was good.
- Could you tell me about your three main strengths and how you'd apply them to this position?
QC Chemist
The interview process was really long, starting with my application in September. I had a phone interview within a week, but then radio silence for six weeks. I only found out I could move forward because the same interviewer reached out on LinkedIn for a different job. There was a lot of back-and-forth with the recruiter, with promises of calls that never happened. Eventually, I got an on-site interview invite with only two days' notice and was asked to prep a presentation. Two issues here: the case study I got for the presentation was for the wrong job, and I wasn't told to send it beforehand, so I had to present without my slides. The technical questions were super deep, about 30 of them, with multiple parts. I was supposed to get a break to chat with the team over coffee, but that didn't happen. They said I'd hear back in 1-2 days after the interview, but I had to follow up after a full week of silence. Honestly, the whole experience made me reconsider working there.
- Can you discuss technical aspects of LC-MS column compositions and interactions, such as Van der Waals forces?
- What are your thoughts on phosphorus NMR?
- Could you explain concepts related to oligonucleotides?
