I was called for an interview with HR. It was a smooth, really nice conversation. I answered all the questions and the recruiter gave me positive feedback. She asked me a question about aspects of my area of interest, I answered and she said 'very good, that's exactly what I was expecting you to say'. At the end of the interview, she said she would forward me to a conversation with the manager and the data science director of the company, even mentioning both their names and reassuring me that everything would be fine. And indeed, it was too fine, because this supposed conversation never happened. A little over a month later, I received an automatic email saying I was eliminated from the process. Pathetic, why lead the candidate on like that?

The whole process took a long time, from October to mid-December, which might have been an issue for me and my other opportunities. There were times it felt like they weren't totally ready for the interviews, especially since they didn't give me any info on the total compensation package. Communication could have been better; I had to chase them for updates multiple times, and they were slow to give me the status updates they promised. They made assumptions about the salary I was looking for without really talking it through, and I had to follow up because I didn't have enough information to make a decision. It was also hard to get them on the phone, so it would be helpful if they included phone numbers in emails and were easier to reach.

The hiring process begins with a call with the recruiting team, who will explain the selection process and the area's objectives. Next, I took a fairly simple technical test involving basic data quality analysis, bivariate analysis, and modeling. The product team also participated in this interview, and it was very lighthearted and fun. Finally, an interview in English was held, including discussions about career, the company's future, and how I could contribute to the strategy. The recruiter is the one who calls and makes the offer, negotiating salary and start date, as well as formalizing benefits.
