Had a bunch of phone interviews with different people on the team. Then, I had two in-person trips to NYC towards the end. A lot of it was about product and strategy, since this PM role was really business-focused. The whole thing took about 2-3 months.

Behavioral Technical

The hiring manager did a quick interview, likely because they had already decided on candidates and were confident in me. The main challenges were the interviews with the 2nd level manager and peer managers to show I could do the job. The 2nd level manager seemed excited to hire someone new with fresh ideas, but some peer managers were hesitant. I think this hesitation comes from the company's culture where people believe that having a legal background automatically qualifies you for any role. This belief has caused problems because these 'former lawyers' often approach things the old-fashioned way, not considering how customers operate now. Just having a legal background doesn't mean you'll fit into a typical corporate setting. More and more people are being hired despite this 'lawyer prerequisite' mindset, as they've demonstrated their value through business skills, intelligence, and communication, which are key to success here. Some peer managers were skeptical because of this.

I had an initial chat with the recruiter and then they set up a call with the hiring manager for the following week. But the day before that interview, they cancelled it because they had already decided to extend an offer to someone else. Now I'm seeing the same job posted again on LinkedIn.
