First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LexisNexis Legal & Professional.
Paralegal
The interview process was quite long, spanning two months from when I first applied. It started with submitting an application form. Then, there was a 48-hour written test that the recruitment team set. After that, I had an initial interview with the head paralegal and another paralegal. The next step was a second interview with higher management, focusing on interpersonal skills and hypothetical scenarios. The whole thing felt a bit disorganized, and they made a few mistakes along the way, which seemed a little unprofessional. Despite that, everyone I interacted with was really friendly and easy to talk to.
- What's one thing you could teach us in a 5-minute period?
- Can you tell us about your strengths and weaknesses?
- Do you feel you can manage your time effectively?
Paralegal
The interview process was very straightforward. It was an in-person interview focusing more on skills and your background than on your tech or social media activity. They called me the day before to set up the interview. I went in and met with my supervisor. We had a short Q&A session that included a mix of behavioral and situational questions.
- What motivates you to seek employment with this company?
- What are your long-term career aspirations for the next five years?
Paralegal
So the application system for LexisNexis/Relx is pretty broken. I had many applications stuck on 'submitted' for ages, and they only got back to me sometimes over weeks. It feels like they don't communicate well and their process is messy. Then, I prepared for a permanent paralegal job, but 30 minutes before, the recruiter told me it was actually a temporary contract role. That's really inconvenient and makes you not trust them. Also, for another paralegal job, they said people from Durban, Joburg, and Cape Town could apply, and even the manager confirmed she worked remotely from Joburg. But then they gave the job to someone just from Joburg, which doesn't make sense and is confusing. I told the UK Leads about this with proof, and they said 'job ads might not be accurate,' which basically puts the blame on us instead of fixing their bad communication. Overall, LexisNexis's hiring in 2024 was full of misleading ads, bad communication, and they didn't handle complaints well. It made me lose faith in their hiring and was a waste of my time.
- What motivates your interest in joining LexisNexis?
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
