Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Leonardo.
Engineer
The process was split into two parts: an interview with HR and an interview with the hiring managers for the role. Questions in both were of medium difficulty, with a strong emphasis on soft skills (interpersonal relationship management) and technical skills (engineering knowledge relevant to the role's duties).
- How would you size an isolator that needs to serve as a mechanical support for an object to be transported?
Safety Engineer
The process is divided into several stages. There's an initial group selection, followed by individual interviews with various managers. They try to put you in difficult situations to see how motivated you are, at least in the early stages. In the final stage, they want to see if you fit their needs and try to understand which department you see yourself working in the most. Overall, it's not a very technical interview.
- Where do you see yourself in the next few years?
Service Engineer
I had two interview rounds. The first was virtual and the second was in-person. The first interview went well and was very smooth. I got an email right after the first interview that they would like to invite me for an on-site interview. The process to schedule this interview was a nightmare (it took 3 months). I got scheduled and rescheduled 4 times. They even booked me a flight ticket and had to cancel it and reschedule. There is absolutely no consideration for the candidate's time. I was told to book my own transportation to and from the airport and that I would get reimbursed. The on-site interview was okay; they pretty much asked me the same questions they asked during the first interview. HR sent me an email right after the interview, telling me that they are in the process of making a decision and that they will let me know ASAP. I ended up getting ghosted. I sent 2 follow-up emails, but they never got back to me. I even emailed them, asking them to reimburse me for the taxi/Uber trips (like they said they would) and they just kept on ghosting. HR replied to my initial follow-up email 2 months later, stating how they are still discovering the scope of the position and whether they are ready to hire someone at this time (still ignoring my reimbursement). After I received this email, the very next day they posted multiple openings for the same position I interviewed for. The lack of professionalism and respect is alarming.
