First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Leonardo DRS.
Optical Engineer
I applied at the start of Feb and it took 3 months to hear back. The process included: submitting my application, an interview with the hiring manager where I was asked some technical questions, an interview with the HR manager, an interview with team members that also had technical questions, and finally an on-site interview with upper management and the hiring manager again.
- What makes you want to work at this company?
- Can you tell me about a disagreement you had with a colleague and how you settled it?
- Tell me about a challenging situation you faced at work.
Software Engineering Manager
I got referred and HR reached out within a week. They explained the job and what they were looking for. I gave my availability and was set up for a long interview. I had to prep a presentation on why I'd be a good fit. The interview started with my presentation, then three 45-minute interviews. One of them was with my hiring manager, Steve Roehm, who made it a two-way conversation, which was cool. The last part was with the head of HR about benefits and some behavioral stuff. It was all virtual.
- Who do you find most challenging to persuade?
- Can you describe your leadership style?
- How do you go about developing engineers?
Field Service Technician
first interview will be via telephone and will last 45 min to 60 min. You will have a person asking questions concerning your life, future endeavors and getting to know you better with small talk. After that you will be asked questions about computers, dos, networking, cmd how to get inside of the operating system to enter command prompts. the next round will be speaking about any experience with mechanical and electrical maintenance. The interviewer will ask you to explain certain procedures to show your knowledge. Pretty easy stuff if you know your skill set. warning if you don't know just say i'm a bit rusty o that topic but I will research and get up to speed with a purpose.
- Can you tell me what you understand about this job?
- What do you believe is your greatest strength?
- Describe a past challenge you faced and how you overcame it, including the outcome.
Senior Manager
The hiring process moved at a glacial pace, despite each candidate emphasizing the importance of promptly filling the role. It would often take a minimum of two weeks between each stage, leaving me constantly seeking feedback and updates. After the final interview, it took a whopping 5 weeks for the company to inform me that they had chosen another candidate, even though both the hiring manager and HR had hinted at my strong candidacy. I had a positive experience with the team during the interviews, but I must say that the lack of communication and respect throughout the hiring process left me at a loss for words.
- Can you tell me about your technical skills?
- What are your thoughts on strategic thinking?
- Could you describe your personal attributes?
