Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LensCrafters.
Sales Associate
I applied online and then got a phone call that led to an in-person interview. When I arrived, the employees seemed rude and unkempt, and the atmosphere felt like a male-dominated club. My interview was in a cramped, messy back area with space for only two people to sit. The interviewer wasn't prepared and spent a lot of time discussing how people don't show up for their interviews.
- Can you describe a time you used a diverse perspective to overcome a challenge?
Sales Associate
It was a really basic interview with simple questions about why you want the job and about your past experience. They seemed more interested in hearing why you want the role than why you're qualified for it.
- Can you tell me about your previous experience that relates to this type of work?
Sales Associate
I was working for Sunglasses Hut and looking for something more challenging that could lead to a corporate role in Optical sales or manufacturing. I contacted the GM at the Lenscrafters I wanted to join in late September to ask about joining their team. After some back-and-forth, I learned that Insurance week was coming up in December, a busy time for prescription eyewear sales, and that I could join for that period to see if I liked prescription optics. I discussed hours and wages, and started training a couple of weeks later.
- What interests you about working in the Optics industry?
