I was recruited based on my background and experience. I went through a one-hour phone interview and a one-and-a-half-hour face-to-face interview. They mentioned they were only looking for General Managers with District Manager potential, which I had in my previous career. After two weeks of no contact, I called the District Manager who recruited me and left a message expressing my continued interest. Five minutes later, the phone interviewer called back on behalf of the DM to say they decided to promote from within. It felt like a huge waste of my time since the company had posted extensively online for my specific city, only to find out that no external candidates would be considered.

I first connected with the company via a recruiter. The initial interview was with two managers and lasted about 30 minutes. It felt a bit rushed, like they had a tight schedule for the day, so I didn't get to ask many questions. The interviewers were polite and asked questions specific to the role, covering my customer service philosophy, how I'd handle an angry customer situation, and my approach to assessing and potentially relocating employees based on their skills. I was a bit concerned as there was no formal job description available from either the company or my recruiter. Next, I had to take an online assessment which included a timed math section with word problems and sales-related calculations (like percentages and profit margins), and a general/personality test focusing on customer service and work ethic. I found the individually timed math questions challenging as extra time on quicker questions couldn't be used for slower ones. Passing this assessment was necessary for management roles, which I did. About two weeks later, I had a second interview with two different managers. This one was more relaxed and longer, allowing me to learn more about the job. I then discovered the position requires completing a certification to become an optician, typically a 3-year process while working full-time and studying part-time. A week or so after that, I was invited for a third interview.

I applied online and then got a call from the recruiter. After that, I had an initial phone interview with them. Then I had a second phone interview with the Regional manager. This was followed by an in-person interview with the Regional manager, which was a great and very thorough experience. Finally, I had a second in-person interview with the Central Zone VP, the Regional manager, and another manager.
