The interview went well, it was easy and straightforward. The questions were clear and the conversation flowed naturally. I appreciated learning more about Lennar’s culture and how the role fits into their operations.

I applied, and then a recruiter emailed me saying they reviewed my resume and wanted to set up an interview. I scheduled it. Then, I got two minutes into telling her about myself (I'm a senior in college) and she stopped me to ask when I graduate. I graduate next spring, which was on my resume, and she said they're only looking to hire someone who can start within 30 days. It was clear she didn't look at my resume before the interview, which was a waste of time for both of us.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I had two rounds of interviews with the marketing supervisors at the local office. The first was over Zoom and the second was in person. The supervisors were punctual and seemed prepared, and I really enjoyed learning more about the company and the job from them. I liked how they talked about their teamwork. They didn't share a salary range during the interview process. In the second round, I asked about how compensation is handled and the process for pay increases. They explained that for hiring, corporate HR looks at the candidate's background and market rates for the job to decide the pay. When they first called me for the interview, they had me complete an application through their system, which asked for my preferred salary, I put down $58,000. Then, in the second round, they asked for my current salary, which I said was $55,000. I was offered the job at $50,000. When I asked if the salary was negotiable, they stated, 'this is an entry-level role, the pay is set.' They offered me the job on Wednesday around 4:30 pm and wanted a decision by Thursday at noon. I turned it down. They relisted the job. Salary transparency in the job posting would have been more efficient for everyone. For the second interview, they led me straight to a laptop with Canva open and instructed me to 'make us a social media post using this info and we'll be back in a few minutes to discuss.' I was a bit panicked because I'd never been tested on the spot like that before, especially since I had already provided my portfolio. After I created the post, we talked about my decisions, and then the interview continued.
