I had a chat with the recruiter first. Then I moved on to the Hiring Manager screening, which lasted about 30 minutes. Finally, there was a technical in-person round. The job duties, both in the description and during the conversation, seemed pretty light, mostly dealing with commercial LED appliances.

Behavioral Coding

So I went to their building and had to call the interviewer on his personal cell when I arrived. They had moved offices and the receptionist wasn't being utilized. The interview started off really conversational, almost like a behavioral interview since we talked soccer for a while. Then, he asked me to convert a binary number to an integer in C. I was a bit surprised because I thought the role was for C#/JavaScript, but I went with it. I mentioned it's been a while since I coded in C, but I could still do it. I spent the rest of the time coding and managed to get it working on the first try. At the end, the interviewer seemed a bit down and gave me a brief, unenthusiastic tour of the office. They are upfront about their hiring practices; they don't typically hire interns long-term, intending to replace them with new interns after a year.
