I applied for and interviewed for two paralegal jobs at LSNYC in the last couple years. The experience quality really changes depending on the unit. Both times I got an interview super fast. The first time they told me what the interview would cover and the questions actually stuck to that outline, which was cool for fairness. I heard back with a rejection pretty quickly, within like two weeks. The second time though, they didn't tell me the scope of questions – maybe breaking their own fairness rules? – and I never heard back at all, even after I emailed them a bunch. It's a bummer that some people can't even send a quick two-sentence email.

The interview process was pretty simple. I had one meeting with all the attorneys in my unit, plus someone from the support staff. It went for about an hour. To make sure things were fair, they asked the same questions to everyone about why legal services, why public interest, and if we had experience with indigent clients.

I had one interview with my future supervisor and a coworker who holds the same position. They mainly asked about how I would handle challenging clients and a large number of cases. About a week after that, I had a quick follow-up with the supervisor and the Program Director. The Director's participation was mostly a formality for approval; they didn't ask many questions.
